Although a buzz word in pharmacy in recent years Stress was first recognised as a key issue for the profession in the early 1990s by Sue Sharpe - then Director of Legal Services at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS). Sue was concerned by the rising numbers of situations where pharmacists were failing to meet professional and legal obligations, not through wilful dishonesty or neglect but because they were unable to cope with demands of work, and sometimes domestic pressures.
